They have done it again. For the second year in a row Adidas have organised the Tango League tournament, but this time it was bigger and the stakes were much higher. 48 teams were involved in this tournament where they had to qualify over the course of two days for the last 16.
For those that are new to this, the Adidas Tango League is a global small-sided football tournament with various cities such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris and of course London holding their own city-wide tournaments.
The qualifying event saw many attractions, there was a 360 degree camera where players could pose with fresh blue blast tango gear, there was a foot-tennis court and a dribbling challenge where the fastest players on the night walked away with a pair of boots from the blue blast pack.
The last 16 was more about the football as this really was crunch time; and the quality of the matches back up the statement. Everyone that progressed into the quarter finals received a fresh pair of boots from the blue blast pack.
Both semi-final match ups ended in penalties with the final being contested between Baiteze Squad who entered into the Tango League for the first time and PogBoom FC who were runners up in the tournament last year. This time they managed to get their feet over the line as they were the better side in a tough fought contest winning 3-2. They were presented with winners medals and the Tango League trophy by Chelsea FC player Ruben Loftus-Cheek who was the special guest of the night.
